Patricia Prendiville, executive director of ILGA Europe, introduces EU institutions and the possibilities of working with human rights for LGBT people in Europe. A talk with members of The 09 Network about what the LGBT rights movement has to do with the Swedish government's priorities for the upcoming presidency of the EU. The 09 Network addresses the EU's role to ensure peoples' sexual and reproductive health and rights within and outside of Europe.
The 09 Network was formed in 2007 and consists of RFSU, Africa Groups of Sweden, RFSL, The Kvinna till Kvinna Foundation, Amnesty, RFSL Youth, the Foundation of Women's Forum, Svalorna Latinamerika, and the Swedish Association of Women's Shelters. Presentation of EU Legal Report on Homophobia in Europe Time: 14.45-15.00, Place: Kilen Dr. Niraj Nathwani, program manager in the research unit of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) and coordinator of the legal expert groups of the Fundamental Rights Agency (FRALEX), will present the main conclusions and opinions of FRA's Legal Report on Homophobia in Europe.

Representatives from LGBT organisations from Poland and the Baltic countries talk about the similarities and differences of living as an LGBT person in their countries. Among the issues to be discussed are discrimination at school and in the workplace. The lives of LGBT people are clearly affected by political decisions. What could or should politicians do to further the rights and equal treatment of LGBT persons? A political response to the previous panel. Time: 16.30-17.00, Place: Kulturhustaket Zimbabwe is a band from Lithuania that escapes all possible limits, both social and musical. Some call them punk, but they cover a wider sphere: ska, rhythm, punk moments and emotional melodies. Zimbabwe consists of Juliana Lozovska (vocals), Eliza Lozovska (guitar, vocals), Natalia Judzinska (bass guitar, vocals), and Egle Bagdonaite (drums). Zimbabwe's music has already reached the stages of Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Austria, Belarus, the Czech Republic, Italy, and Germany. Among their most interesting experiences are "Ladyfest" in Warsaw and Vienna, and the women's rock festival "Venerettrica 2006" in Italy.
